摘要:
快速准确地估算震级是地震预警成败的关键。初至地震波引起的地表变形可以反应出震级的大小,然而目前的震级估算方法并没有充分利用地表变形的过程信息,震级估算效果仍有改进的空间。为此,提出一种基于初始地表变形的累积绝对位移值(CAD)估算震级的方法。CAD是对加速度记录进行两次积分后,取绝对值求累积得到的。利用日本Kiban-Kyoshin Net(KiK-Net)的大量地震记录对CAD的震级估算效果进行验证,包括初至3 s P波时的震级估算和随初至地震波时长增加的震级持续估算两种验证情况,并与当前普遍采用的峰值位移(Pd)方法进行对比,结果表明,在2种情况下,CAD与震级的相关性和估算震级的准确性均明显优于Pd。实际震例也进一步验证了CAD 实际应用的可行性。在地震预警系统中,采用CAD代替Pd可以获得更好的震级估算效果。
Abstract:
Fast and accurate magnitude estimation is the decisive factor in earthquake early warning(EEW). Ground deformation caused by the first arrival seismic wave can reflect magnitude,but current magnitude estimation methods do not take enough advantage of the deformation process,and the performance of magnitude estimation can still be improved. Therefore,a magnitude estimation method based on cumulative absolute displacement (CAD)of initial ground deformation is proposed. CAD is obtained by the cumulation of absolute displacement calculated by twice integrating accelerograms. A large number of seismic records of Japanese Kiban-Kyoshin Net (KiK-Net)were used to compare the magnitude performance based on the proposed CAD with that based on commonly used peak displacement(Pd). Magnitude estimation with initial 3 s P-wave and magnitude continuous estimation with increasing initial seismic wave were tested in the comparison. The comparison results show that the correlation between CAD and magnitude and the accuracy of magnitude estimation are both significantly better than those of Pd. The performance of CAD method is further verified by a real earthquake event. In EEW system,using CAD instead of Pd can achieve better magnitude estimation.
